RIP Dan Shorey

Dan Shorey, a former CRMC steward and respected TT racer passed away on 4th May at home in Banbury after a long illness

RIP Dan Shorey

Dan Shorey raced in the 1958 MGP and then went on to race the TT in 1961 until 1967.

Dan was one of the last surviving members of the Continental Circus of the 1960s and after his racing career, continued to be involved and was a regular visitor to the CRMC in our early years, using his years of experience to good use. Often known as "Banbury Dan", was one of the top stars of the 1960’s in the 350 and 500 classes.

He died on 4th May 2025 peacefully at home aged 87. His funeral will be on 5th June 2025 12 noon at Banbury Crematorium.

I have a Manx Norton whose engine number is only a couple of disgust away from mine so Dan would have purchased his at pretty much the same time. My bike was sold to me John Lewis (bought from Putney autos) John finished 11th in that years senior TT which was some achievement. Alas I cannot find out much more about John Lewis not the bikes history after that!! If anyone has any leads for me to follow up I would be deeply grateful. Thanks mark jones, shripshire
