Please do not fit an in-helmet camera in a racing helmet, it is NOT APPROVED. The ACU are reviewing these but at present they are banned for racing use.

"In-Helmet" Cameras

It has been noticed recently in a series of adverts on social media for cameras that are mounted inside the aperture of a crash helmet, notably from suppliers such as Insta360 and Cambox. We would like to remind everyone that these cameras are not approved for motorcycle racing and therefore will not be permitted at CRMC meetings.

The current ACU road race regulations state:

“The carrying of on-board cameras is only permitted with the prior approval, in writing of the Clerk of the Course. The Camera must be securely fitted to the machine. It must not be attached to the body, helmet or clothing of the rider/driver or passenger. The installation of the camera must be approved by the Chief Technical Officer.”

The ACU are currently in the process of evaluating these cameras and the club will revise its position pending any changes in the future.

We will of course continue to permit the use of on-board cameras providing the mounting is approved by Technical Control.
Thanks for your continued support.

Keith Miller
CRMC Chief Technical Officer
