Donington Park

Press release: 29th April 2010

RE-OPENING PLANS

The Plans to re-open the new improved Donington Park Race Track are progressing well.

The Project advisors, led by ex Aggregate Industries Director Philip Barltrop and Duncan Green of Pick Everard Consulting Engineers,  have met John Symes of the MSA, and we are currently finalising plans and costings for the works to repair the damage done in and around the Race Track at Donington Park.

We are confident that the new improved Race Track can be re-opened, subject to obtaining the necessary Racing Licences, during August 2010.

Donington Park Race Director, Robert Fearnall,  is working on an appropriate Race Programme for 2010 which we will announce as soon as possible.

The re-opening of Donington Park will ensure that the Circuit is once again available for National and International Motor Sport.

ACU – UK Classic Championship 2010

The Classic Racing Motorcycle Club Ltd has pleasure in announcing the ACU – UK Classic Championship.
This prestigious series is a first for classic racing and is to include up to 500cc pre 1973 G1 and G2 machines.

Discussions are ongoing with potential sponsors who include the ACU and we expect to offer substantial prize money e.g. 1st place £500.00 so that there is an opportunity of winning £1000.00 per round. (see below)
Should we attract additional sponsors prize money could increase? We are also looking at sponsorship through product support and product discounts.

General format:
Separate practice/qualifying which will positioned so that a riders in CRMC races will have had track time first.
There will be 2 races per meeting of around 25 miles duration.
We plan to run at 4 circuits – Knockhill, Anglesey, Donington (or hopefully a replacement if Donington is not running) and Snetterton.
This gives a series of 8 races with an ACU champion at the end based on points as per Moto GP etc.

We expect that disc braked machines will earn ½ points and ½ prize money as in our current Nationals which this series will replace.
350 G1 will still be able to run in CRMC championships and we are looking at other options within our ‘standard’ meetings as well.

Interested riders and entrants please contact John Davidson 01142-873885 (International 0044-1142-873885) or john.davidson@crmc.co.uk

We welcome additional sponsors please contact Brian Robson 01604-696135 (international 0044-1604-696135) or brian.robson@crmc.co.uk
