Riders at the CRMC rate our Marshals as the best in the business - without them we couldn't race.

Not only are they professional but they are a pretty social bunch and are often found wandering around the paddock - usually near a friendly kettle.

Their quick reactions to trackside incidents have helped save a lot of racers from more serious incidents - perhaps it's the attention to detail as seen below.

MARSHALLING WITH THE C.R.M.C.

Have you ever wanted to get nearer to the action at a race circuit but don’t actually want to race.

Well you could come along and marshal. We get the best views of the circuits often unseen by the general public, an enjoyable day out and the knowledge that what you do helps to ensure that race meetings can take place. If you find this information useful and would like to know more, we will be pleased to send you our information pack which will give you all the information you will need to get started, whether you have marshalled for several years or are a novice new to marshalling.

I’m often asked what the criteria is to be a marshal, well really its common sense and enthusiasm, you don’t even need to be physically fit – although in some instances it might help.

Some of our marshals prefer the sedate pastime of doing the flagging, while others are happy recovering the bikes, we also have some off track marshalling activities if this appeals. We hold an annual marshal’s training day just for our club at the beginning of each year usually at Mallory Park. Here we cover all the basics as part of an ACU training course; flagging, incident marshalling, fire safety, communications and most importantly your safety.

But don’t worry if you’ve missed it for this year, as we will always put you with experienced marshals when you join us and our Chief Marshals will be on hand to support you. Your first point of contact is usually with our Chief Marshals, who will guide you through the procedures and are always available to you throughout the day.

Come along to any meeting and any of the people in orange will happily direct you to the people you need to talk to. We also work closely with the Clerk of the Course and they too will be happy to help you with any information.

Just check out the club site to see when our next meeting is. Most of our meetings are held over a weekend and there is free camping at the circuits, we are quite a sociable bunch of people and often there can be 20 + trying to get into a restaurant on a Saturday night or gathering around a BBQ, so be warned you could get hooked.

The club itself is committed to looking after their marshals and there is interaction and mutual respect between ourselves and our riders. People of all ages and abilities travel the country to marshal with us and there is no obligation to come for the whole weekend, we appreciate the time you are able to give us.

No matter whether you do one meeting per year, one day at each meeting or every meeting, you will be assured of a warm and friendly welcome. Different circuits need different numbers of marshals and each person has their own unique skills.

We also currently offer a fixed expenses payment. You’ll ask yourself why you waited so long to join us, so don’t delay, get involved, we look forward to hearing from you.
